Animatic 2
http://www.vimeo.com/7417719This second animatic combines the animated skeleton created in Motion Builder with the character skin created in Maya. The various takes are finally combined into a draft version of the final video.
Motion Capture T-Pose
All motion capture shots start and end with the t-pose. We use this pose and the reference photos to identify all markers. More photos after the jump.
Data Cleaning (It’s a Chore)
Cleaning the raw motion capture data takes some time! On the left is a wire frame version of the main character with each of the markers identified and labeled. The right side shows each of the marker trajectories – it’s a solid set of bars since all the data has been cleaned (otherwise you see gaps in the data).
Motion Capture Session
http://www.vimeo.com/6806245We completed out first motion capture session. It was a success – Adam was great as our Guitar Star! Now the process of cleaning up all the capture data which weighs in at over 2GB of raw data.
Steven the T-Pose
The main character continues to take shape. Hair has been added along with a bandanna. Besides fitting in with the characters “rocks star” attitude, the bandanna serves to simplify the animation and rendering of hair (most of the hair is covered and held in place).
Soundtrack Evolved
The soundtrack is still in development with the main guitar recorded and several different style introductions. Listen to the recording here:

The World Takes Shape
Richard’s world is his room – which also happens to be the setting for Guitar Star. Continue reading to see other views of Richard’s room.
Character Development: Concept to Model
Steven Richards takes shape. The character is a guy in his middle 30s who still lives at home. He’s decked out in a rock start leather vest, and unfortunately doesn’t have the matching pants.
Crystal has produced the model in Maya (she point’s out that the hair is still coming).
